ink and watercolor on paper
This “handbook” made by Global Art Materials, Inc. is pretty good at accepting watercolors. There’s also a nice tooth to the off-white paper that allows for dry brush techniques.
I started this sketch at the Starbucks in Alamo–near Adrian’s house–right after coming back from the airport. I didn’t get to finish because we left a little earlier than I had expected, so I just added what I thought would be interesting. The mountains had something to do with seeing Mt. Diablo while jogging at the park; it was pretty late, and they sky’s colors were great, the mountains distant yet still looming. I’ve only been on Mt. Diablo once, during college, probably on a day when I should’ve been studying. No regrets because I still remember how relaxing it was to escape the classroom, notebooks, and the squeak of dry-erase markers on the white board.
