Just started blocking in shapes with a filbert brush that was probably too big for facial detail. It felt really nice to paint on canvas again; it’s been a few years.
I’m trying out of of those Masterson Stay Wet palettes, and so far, it’s working nicely except that I forgot to squeeze out extra water after throwing the cover on last night. This made the paints a little runny, but no big deal because I’m only working on the underpainting right now.
Now I’ll start to refine parts of the face and hands and decide if I want to keep the stripes on her hoodie (probably will). Looking at the poor likeness now is killing me, so I’d better reshape those eyes first. A little spoiled lately by the tools in Photoshop and will have to really mix some decent colors and values to bring this together.
Need to start working on some superhero/comic related stuff to show this coming Saturday…
