Why Bother Naming It?

[First, let me say that this draft has been sitting in my WordPress dashboard for two months, but when I saw the video below I decided to post it.]

I saw that someone had made a list of the best places to breastfeed, and of course, I thought, “I’ll just write a post about online pervs on Yelp checking those places out just to see women whip out breasts left and right.”  Okay, it’s not really funny.  Women should be able to do this anywhere, anytime, but you’d be ignorant to not consider how some men will just stop and stare when there’s a bare breast around.

I did a search on Google to see if there were other lists like the one above, but I ended up clicking on these two:

1. 50 States Summary of Breastfeeding Laws
2. Mom-friendly entities honored: Breastfeeding is accommodated at many locations

Then after watching the video, I remembered reading this article in Time called Outsourcing Breast Milk which is more specifically about wet-nursing–hiring a woman to breastfeed a baby.

So what do you think?  Are men gawking at women at these breastfeeding-friendly spots?  Would you be okay with your best friend’s baby drinking your milk?  How would you feel to see your wife breastfeeding that ugly baby from next door?

Let’s just say that I’m glad I finished that post without any offensive, juvenile jokes about Salma Hayek’s bosom.
