Look at this sad JPG from a local bowling alley that a friend and I visited this past Sunday.
This photo was supposed to make customers think that they could get decent food at the bowling alley. I get that people don’t expect much from bowling alley food (how many times am I going to type “bowling alley” in this post?), but the person who built the website should have at least tried to find a photo of delicous looking items. Ideally, someone who can define the words texture, vibrant, and composition would have taken pictures of actual dishes that are on the menu at the cafe and restuarant, but we know that was probably beyond the budget.
If you’re going to use stock photos, then at least find ones that are done right.
Look how easy it can be. Go to Flickr and search for a photograph that can be used under the appropriate Creative Commons license…and pow!
The above from nessguide’s photostream. Looks like food I would like to eat.
In defense of the bowling alley (looks like five), the garlic fries that my friends ordered a couple of weeks ago were pretty good. Maybe it was just the hunger, but those tasty sticks of grease were covered with a lot of garlic, butter? olive oil?, and parmesan cheese, so it was kind of a no-brainer. And yes, we dipped them in ranch dressing.
