Feed me, Robot

(AP Photo/Koji Sasahara) Okonomiyaki Bot.  Maybe this will be in a restaurant the next time I’m in Japan!  Pass the mayo.

(Globe Staff/Essdras M. Suarez)  This one’s scary.  Isn’t anyone else thinking that the next generation of robots/drones with artillery and artificial intelligence is a bad idea??  The current use of drones is bad enough, but if there’s talk of allowing these things to decide which people to target, robots are going to try to kill all humans.

The rest here.

I remember I read an article in the NY Times in 2005 that had me really freaked out about killer robots. I was like, “Hasn’t anyone seen the god damn Terminator movies?!!!”

Anyway, I agree that to the extent killer robots are used, they should be brainless and under the complete control of their human masters.

The other consideration is the likelihood that robot armies would lead to more wars, as eliminating the human cost of war would make it easier for politicians to support. Scary stuff.
