A Friend Sent a Link For This

I guess this director will have a chance to bring this to the big screen.  Read here.
Thanks for the link, Cal.

In time for those Christmas stockings

When checking on the dvd’s release date, I found a blog post about someone who had made a custom toy and put it up on ebay.  Here are a couple of pics of what that hand-crafted item looked like.

And what do you know?  Here’s another attempt:

Wait. A. Minute.

A lot of us know who Porkins is.  If not, watch here.
What I did not know was the actor’s name was William Hootkins, and he also played Lt. Eckhardt in the first Tim Burton Batman movie.  My brother and I watched both Star Wars IV and Batman countless times, and we should have noticed that [...]

My friends don’t want me picking movies anymore.

If you’re going to a friend’s house with a dvd that you’re hoping everyone will like, do not bring Mega Shark VS Giant Octopus.  You’re thinking what I WAS thinking, I can feel it.
“How can you not make that an awesome, watch-it-again-because-it-made-me-laugh-so-hard-I-threw-up movie?”
Well, they found all the ways possible.  Even for a B movie, it’s [...]

I wish District 9 was out now.

I read it was based on this short film:  http://www.spyfilms.com/#neill_blomkamp/alive_in_joburg

Not Deschanel’s Fault

I didn’t like The Go-Getter with Zooey Deschanel maybe because I’m just feeling grumpy and cynical, and any movie where the guy makes no effort to get the girl and does, well, it kind of pisses me off a little more than it should.  C’mon…  The guy steals her car at a carwash (he doesn’t [...]

You’re Not Kidding

From FilmDrunk:
Universal has won a four-studio bidding war to pick up the film rights to the classic Atari video game “Asteroids.”
Here’s something that no one told the movie executives with too much money to spend:  That’s a new low, you stupid morons.  You no longer have the right to decide what movies get made.
In other news, [...]

I Don’t Want to Write a Movie Review

I’ll just keep it short.
Star Trek directed by JJ Abrams is fantastic.  Go watch it!
Also:  I usually don’t like watching movies in Vallejo because a lot of  loud-mouthed assholes have ruined movies for me at that theater in the past.  There were no problems tonight.  Good job, people at the 7pm showing.  There was one [...]

Used to color in my GL comics

Watch THIS trailer.  Geeks should be happy.  I know I am!
I’m way behind on DC animated adaptations, but this looks really good.  It’s nice to know that my brother will let me borrow this soon after it comes out.
Some of my first comic books as a kid were these Superman and Green Lantern team-ups.  Back [...]

About 65 Minutes In

Watching Transformers from 2007, and it’s as bad as I remember.  The script is horrible, and there isn’t one person worth caring about except Mikaela Banes because that’s Megan Fox’s character.  Thank the Cube for Megan Fox.  Oh, and Rachael Taylor.
I’m looking at the script and screenplay credits, and I see that a couple of [...]

Coming Soon

Here are some links (from Apple) to geeky movies that I’ll watch in theaters, a couple of which, if not all, have a high potential for being bad and sucking hard except the first one.
Okay, it can still be bad, but I’ll give everyone involved the benefit of the doubt:
Watchmen
The following I’m not so sure [...]

Am I going to regret it?

I borrowed a copy of Transformers/Bayformers from my older brother, and I’m not sure if Megan Fox and the ILM effects will be enough to make it worthwhile.  With that said, Megan Fox will probably be good enough reason to sit through this shitty movie again.  I’ve only seen it once in the theater.

Below we [...]

Can’t Get Enough Of These

Can I buy my ticket for Watchmen now??

From this book.  Photo by Clay Enos.
This blog is becoming a commercial for the Watchmen movie.

Dr. Manhattan 10-Year Anniversary

Very nice.

Good.

Just read this in my Google Reader thanks to The Beat.
WATCHMEN suit settled
from THE BEAT

White flag! Warring studios Fox and Warners have released a statement:

“Warner Bros. and Twentieth Century Fox have resolved their dispute regarding the rights to the upcoming motion picture Watchmen in a confidential settlement. Warner Bros acknowledges that Fox acted in [...]

This version works for me

Star Wars: Retold (by someone who hasn’t seen it) from Joe Nicolosi on Vimeo.
This made me laugh. I worked with someone before who had never seen any of the Star Wars movies. Maybe I should send this to her.

Fitting Merchandise

My nephew recently had a party for his birthday at a miniature golf park here in the Bay Area, and my brother and sister-in-law gave out goodie bags to all the nice kids who showed up to celebrate with the boy.  One thing in the bag was passed on to me because my four-year-old niece [...]
